Hey! 

Hannah Joy Mettler is a dance artist, educator, and creative based in Houston, Texas.

 

Originally from New Jersey, her love of dance began in classical ballet and rhythm tap dance, evolving from a childlike hobby into a lifelong career. Her passions led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Messiah University, blending her passion for dance with her additional interests in psychological research. Following her graduation, she moved to Houston to join Ad Deum Dance Company under the direction of Randall Flinn, performing modern and contemporary dance works by Randall Flinn, Steve Rooks, Durell Comedy, Caleb Mitchell, Gabriel Speiller, Shizu Yasuda and Alicia Graf-Mack.  Additional performance credits have been with Mei/co dance under the direction of Meggie Belisle and NobleMotion under the direction of Andrew and Dionne Noble.

In 2026, she graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from Sam Houston State University.

Ms. Mettler’s choreography has been featured at Sam Houston State University, the American College Dance Association, Austin Dance Festival, 254 Dance Fest, Boot Dance Break-In Fest for Emerging Choreographers, Bailando International Dance Festival, Barnstorm Dance Fest, and has toured internationally in Switzerland, France, Northern Ireland, and Costa Rica. Additionally in 2026, she choreographed Standing Ovation Theater’s production of Newsies and was the Tap dance consultant and choreographer for Lone Star Community College’s production of Anything Goes. She frequently explores the blending of ballet and modern technique in her concert choreographic works while seeking to build dance pieces through relationship driven creative processes. Currently her creative research explores resilience theory, and the importance of community building being used as a tool to overcome an increasingly more isolated online society.
